SATIVA HEMP

Hemp and the Sativa Hemp brand.

Hemp, or industrial hemp, is  typically found in the northern hemisphere. It is a variety of the Cannabis sativa plant species that is grown specifically for industrial uses - which are “hemp derived products”.

Hemp can be refined into a variety of commercial items including paper, textiles, clothing, bio-degradable plastics, paint, insulation, construction materials,  biofuel, food, and animal feed.

It is one of the fastest growing plants and was one of the first plants to be spun into usable fiber 10,000 years ago.

Our Production

Sativa Hemp sources only the finest hemp fabric manufactured in a family-run facility in China, where working conditions and equipment used are certified as meeting the highest standards. They create a blend of hemp  fabric: 55% hemp, 45% organic cotton, to use in the product range.

To  safeguard the quality and production of Sativa® bags, their team takes regular trips to the hemp fields, mills and facilities where the raw materials are grown, harvested, produced, then sewn together to make our  eco-friendly hemp bags.

Organic and Eco-Friendly

Hemp farmers do not need to use herbicides or pesticides in the production of the fibre. The hemp plantation improves the soil for crop rotation and is therefore well suited for use in organic and sustainable farming.  Hemp is a valuable renewable resource that can reduce our over reliance on cotton, soybeans, timber and petroleum. We just need to get on with  it!

The majority of fabrics for clothes are made from cotton or are synthetic. The mass introduction of chemical fertilisers, herbicides and pesticides has artificially increased yield, which keeps the price of cotton, other fibre crops and oilseed crops low. As pests have become more resistant to these chemicals, larger quantities of fertilizers are required poisoning both the land and water supplies.

Breathable and Anti-Bacterial

Hemp  garments “breathe”, due the porous nature of the fibres. This allows  the hemp fabric to stay cooler in warm weather while at the same time retaining heat in cooler weather where body heat warms the air trapped  in the fibres.

Hemp clothing naturally prevents up to 95% of the sun’s harmful UV light, while being 5 times as strong as cotton; coupled with its strong anti-fungal and antibacterial properties, this makes the fabric a natural fabric choice.

Sativa Comfort and Longevity

Hemp is a strong natural fibre and will get softer with general use, while retaining its hard wearing properties for a lasting fabric. Hemp fabrics dye effectively to achieve Sativa’s colour palette.

Our bags are a 55% Hemp and 45% Organic Cotton blend, making it eco-friendly and makes the fabric remarkably durable.

The level of detail and craftsmanship gives multiple compartments, pockets, holders and adjustable straps for casual and everyday use.

Sativa’s  range includes bags, wallets and hats. Fair Go Trading distributes the Sativa range in Australia and New Zealand.
